As we kick off 2025, I’m reflecting on what matters most: focus, growth, and letting go of what no longer serves us. The start of a new year always brings a wave of excitement and opportunity. For many, it’s about resolutions and goals. But for me? I’ve learned to focus on commitments—commitments to improve, to streamline my efforts, and to create the best outcomes.
Reflecting on 2024: A Year of Transformation
Last year was pivotal for me. It marked my first full year of retirement from the military, a major transition that taught me the importance of narrowing my focus to what truly matters: my family and the work I’m passionate about.
In 2024, I achieved:
- 34 keynote speeches delivered to diverse audiences.
- Significant growth in my storytelling skills on stage.
- Several podcast interviews and the release of impactful content.
These successes weren’t by chance but the result of focused effort and intentional action.
My Goals for 2025: Narrowing the Focus
This year, I’ve refined my goals even further, creating a curated list that reflects my priorities and aspirations:
- More quality family time. My family remains my top priority.
- Delivering 40–50 keynote speeches that inspire trust, leadership, and high performance.
- Writing, marketing, and publishing my first book. (I’m aiming for NYT Bestseller status in 2026!)
- Completing a groundbreaking research study on trust and culture in organizations.
- Launching my podcast to share insights, stories, and strategies with a wider audience.
- Serving 5–10 high-performance and executive coaching clients to empower leaders to thrive.
While this list may seem ambitious, it’s carefully crafted. I’ve said no to opportunities that don’t align with these goals, making space to excel in what truly matters most.
Lessons Learned: The Power of Letting Go
One of the most important lessons I’ve learned is the value of letting go of what no longer serves me. Whether it’s toxic relationships, unnecessary meetings, or activities that drain energy, I’ve made a conscious effort to streamline my life and focus on what aligns with my goals.
By controlling the inputs in my life, I can better manage the outcomes. This approach allows me to create space for growth, connection, and meaningful impact.
